9.11.17 Bear Tracks

The work down here in Kodiak is slow. Slower than I ever could have imagined. Not a single person investigating. I always imagined before I came out that we would always have someone to teach. But in this case it's more the opposite. One thing this is teaching me is to always have faith. My faith is being tested and I know that we will find someone as long as we have the faith to find. Not only having faith but being obedient and following the mission rules.

Thanks for the encouragement and the support that you all give me weekly. It helps a ton. Almost every day I wake up and the first thought that comes to my head is this. I'm waking up and here on a mission because I know the church has been restored and that we now have the fullness of the gospel. I have strong desires to teach people, I know that it  can benefit them and their families.  But I also know they have to accept the invitation to learn.

I need to read out of preach my gospel more. It can be hard at times not having an investigator, but it's always nice to testify of Jesus Christ and what he's done for us. And also for the book of Mormon that has been brought forth. It brings me so much peace and hope in my life. I think in my work in the world I want to in some way or another have fun every day, or help others enjoy life. I'm thinking about often though .

Since last week, our bishop gave us some names of less actives that we need to see. We had one really great appointment with the Williams. We got to meet them, they were a super fun family with three boys. Ages were 7,9, and 12. We got to dedicate their home. We are hoping to visit less actives every two weeks to check up on them and invite them to church.

We went around on Saturday and invited multiple less actives back to church. Unfortunately they made the choice not to come but we will still help them realize why they should go. We visited a less active father (the sheritts) who had a wife and 2 kids that were not members. We had a very long dinner appointment with them but it was really good to meet them. We also had about 30 mins a after dinner to talk about the gospel. The father has been away from the church for many years and so he is taking baby steps back to church. But he's been coming to the first and second hour the last 2 weeks. I got a little home sick while I was eating with them because they had a young boy and girl named Devin and Danica. And they reminded me of both of them so much because they were both silly and really liked playing with us. The father likes it how we believe that families can be together and he wants that for his family. So we are going to work with them if they allow us back.

I've been eating eggs for breakfast. I boil them and then shower. I like eating simple meals haha. But for lunch I've been eating tons of fish. I love the idea of catching your own food, killing it, cleaning it, and eating it. It's been fun and I'm learning how to fillet fish just with more and more practice each week. You can look up and research salmon but right now on Kodiak the silvers are starting to run. They are fun because they taste better, they are bigger, and they fight on the line a lot more because of their size. Last Monday for P Day we fished all day again. I have never seen more people out fishing at one time then I did on Monday. Labor day in Alaska means go outside and fish. It was also beautiful weather this week. It went 2 weeks with only clouds and rain and now we got a couple of good days. It's bad enough for when the sun finely comes up after a whole week or so I feel motivated to take a picture of the sun because I have missed it for so long. Anyways have a great week!

We got some wood from a member and so we are cooking the fish on the grill. They taste a lot better that way. Also, this one member had something come up and so we couldn’t come over for dinner. And so he gave us a $100, and told us to go eat out. We didn't, but it was still super generous and kind.

Also, I haven't felt any earthquakes yet
