7.22.17 Room Inspection Fail

Image
We asked Dayton a few questions to get a little more information about his first couple days.  I was teasing him about his “napping” since that was a favorite thing to do at home the last couple of months.  The failed room inspection photo is not a surprise (see attachment).  He would have had a pile of those at home.  He did mention in a separate email that his companion was the only “commendable” for making his bed.  Boys will be boys.  J Dave Hey it’s so good to hear from yall! My companion is from Utah, he is also serving in Alaska with me and yes there are 5 elders and 2 sisters in are district who are also going to Alaska. The MTC food is pretty good and is always different so far so thats been pretty nice. i exsersieed for the first time last night playing soccer which was so much fun but i told myself i need to stop eating donuts and ice cream because i was worn out by the end of the hour. i saw Preston yesterday finally, i...

7.19.17

Dear Family, Debbie was texted yesterday by Dayton’s MTC teacher (Sister Christiansen) asking for her email address.  It would seem Dayton forgot.  Shortly thereafter, he sent us the note below and the attached pictures.  Looks like he is in the new building with a pretty sweet view.  He can almost see his grandparents house.  J   Thanks for keeping him in your prayers.  It was ironic that the day Dayton entered the MTC a missionary was reporting home to the high council from the same mission.  I had spoken to his parents already but he was excited for Dayton and spoke about all the service opportunities they had…like shoveling snow  J . Love you! Dave  The MTC is an amazing place to be and I'm growing so much already.  It's policy to email home so no I'm not breaking the rules haha. There has been so much information thr own at me but I'm taking it in slowly. Here is a couple pics. I love my savior and am super...

Cousin Time and Entering the MTC

Image
Dayton was able to spend a few days with cousins before he entered the MTC.  He went camping with the Talbots and earned his way into the hearts of all his cousins! He also went to a Big Talbot reunion in Oak City.  He got to spend time with Catherine's kids as well and went to Brick Oven with her family and Dallin before getting dropped off at the MTC.  And he's off!

Off to the Airport

July 14th we took Dayton to the airport.  He was set apart as a missionary the evening before. As part of his blessing he was told there may be times on his mission that he will feel far from his mission president, but reminded that "you have been called to preach the gospel to the ends of the earth."  Dayton will be such an amazing missionary! He has a strong testimony and a such a fun personality.   Before we got to the airport Dayton realized that he had left his drivers license at home.  Gratefully he had his passport with him, so we told him we would just mail it to the mtc.  Right before we sent Dayton through security he realized that he had left his wallet in the car.  Dave went to the car quickly to get it for him.  We took pictures, hugged, and cried together and then he was off.  How is it possible that this cute little fellow that spent the last 18 years of my life raising, loving, and helping is now grown and a missionary! ...
